Today’s verse: Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over.”
Sometimes life gets in the way! I find that it’s very hard for me to keep on track, stick to my goals and plans. I start off great, have an amazing focus and drive, then BOOM! someone or something falls right into my path. I have to veer off to take care of whatever is going on and then I find the goals and plans that I had made and were moving towards are totally off track or maybe even not doable.
Some of the problem is that I tend to put myself on hold as I help others. Some of the problem is that I set boundaries and others don’t hear or respect them. Some of the problem is that the goals and plans I have are idealized and perfect in an imperfect world. They are mine and maybe not what God has in mind for me.
I find the goals and plans that do succeed are those that I take time with. The ones that I lift up to God and invite the Trinity to join me in discerning. It still have roadblocks and struggles along the way, but these are the ones that I do achieve.
So today, I invite you to take an inventory of sorts. In what areas of your life are you feeling confident and fulfilled, and in what areas are you struggling or feeling overwhelmed. Lift it all up in prayer and silence, sharing gratitude for the good and wonderful inviting direction and support for the struggles. Invite clear direction and guidance and spend time in silence listening for it.
Maybe you can get back on track or just maybe it is a time for a new path, a path as the verse today tells us, that “Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!” That is my prayer for you.
Peace.
